Egypt's Obstructionist Generals
"Their determination to hang on to power is the biggest threat to stability Egypt's military council continues to demonstrate its utter contempt for the citizens who risked their lives to end President Hosni Mubarak's authoritarian rule. In the latest outrage, security forces on Thursday shut down three American-financed democracy-building groups in Cairo and as many as six other nonprofit organizations. Armed with automatic weapons, troops provided no warrants and, in some cases, detained the groups' employees for hours. They confiscated computers and files and sealed the doors when they left.
tivists, the heart of the revolution, still need a lot of help to learn the skills to develop political parties, train poll workers and get out the vote.
Well, doesn’t this beat all? The New York Times still thinks this action by Egypt is justified enough to place the subject on their “editorial page”. When are folks like this going to grow up, face the honest facts, and let other Countries exercise their “Sovereignty” in a way that they see fit? Journalistically, there is absolutely no defense for this paper’s continued promotion of American Colonialism. Politically, there is absolutely no defense of our Nation subsidizing “civic” groups who’s only mission is to proffer the righteousness of Western Democracy. The New York Times ran their first article of reinforcement on Friday, December 30, 2011, in their “International” section. I commented on their article then, and I will comment on this subject whenever I see a major news outlet using their valuable space as a U.S. State Department booster section. This is an egregious use of our tax dollars, when we have plenty of projects to tend to inside our own borders. The U.S. State Department should know better, and our major news outlets should also know better. Please let me know when you all plan to stop this insane assault on Sovereign Nations.
